Finally a Simple Solution for Swimmer’s Shoulder!

Research has proven that swimmer’s shoulder will hold back 3 out of 4 elite swimmers during their career (McMaster & Troup, 1993). But what may surprise you is there’s a solution for shoulder pain that has been proven effective for shoulder dominant sports, including swimming.
This 5-minute solution works because it attacks the underlying cause of shoulder pain—a poor foundation due to shoulder imbalances.
For a swimmer, countless hours are spent developing the strength to swim further and faster, but little if any time is spent strengthening the smaller stabilizers of the shoulder. The result is an out of balance shoulder that breaks down when the body is pushed to its limits.
The Crossover Symmetry system is proven to correct shoulder imbalances in Major League Baseball, thousands of rehab clinics, athletic training facilities, and elite gymnasts; and it will eliminate swimmer’s shoulder as well.
I recommend the Crossover Symmetry System as the gold standard rotator cuff program for any rehabilitation clinic or team…As team physician for the Colorado Rockies I have received equally good feedback from the athletes and trainers. The system is used effectively with injury prevention as well as rehabilitation.
Metry help?
Crossover Symmetry was developed to specifically address the stabilizers of the shoulder complex. It is not a replacement for sport specific training and conditioning, but rather a necessary prerequisite to be incorporated into a complete training program for the swimmer.
Build Bulletproof Shoulders
The shoulder can be broken down into 2 groups of muscle: Prime Movers and Stabilizers.
Prime Movers
Prime Movers are the large, high power muscles that perform the sport specific movements of the arm (e.g.- swim stroke, baseball throw, volleyball spike, etc.). The Prime Movers create explosive movement and only focus on stability as a secondary function.
Stabilizers
Stabilizers keep the arm centered in the socket and optimize shoulder position to maximize power output. While the stabilizers contribution to movement is much less than the prime movers, they are no less important.
What happens when the shoulder stabilizers can’t keep up?
Shoulder Pain
- Poor shoulder stability results in impingement of muscles and tendons.
- Impingement leads to pain and inflammation.
- Pain and inflammation results in muscle inhibition to protect the shoulder.
- Muscle inhibition results in further instability causing more pain and inflammation.
Performance Drop-Off
- If the stabilizers are underperforming the prime movers have to help to support the joint. This results in reduced power output and wasted energy, ultimately causing a decrease in performance.

5 Programs for shoulder health: each completed in 5 minutes or less
Activation preps the shoulder prior to training. It improves the neuromuscular firing of the shoulder stabilizers, which reduces the risk of shoulder impingement within the workout and optimizes results from the training program.
Activation+ is an advanced program that improves coordination and timing of the shoulder under load. It uses plyometric training to prep the shoulder stabilizers to perform alongside the prime movers.
Strength, also known as “IRON SCAP”, is the true strengthening component of the system. IRON SCAP improves dynamic stability of the shoulder and eliminates weak links in the kinetic chain.
Recovery facilitates faster healing and a quicker return to training. Recovery implements eccentric exercises to improve blood flow and promote tendon health.
Mobility ensures optimal movement and alignment of the shoulder joint. Additionally, it addresses painful trigger points that occur with heavy training.
